This year was about our 10th stay with John and Donna and we enjoy it more and more each time. Their welcoming, family-style hospitality is second to none. The wonderful breakfasts are always a treat to look forward to and are made even better when John and Donna join us and share stories about the area. Their willingness to assist you with hiking and day trip information is better than a brochure and gives you a feeling of comfort knowing this is first-hand knowledge.

This was our first B & B experience. Donna and John make you feel at home from the moment you step into the door until you leave, hesitating
to leave new found friends. They provide the most delicious breakfasts,
most wonderful stories and the most relaxing vacation we have had in
a number of years. Thank you, Donna and John, and we will see you again soon.

John and Donna are spectacular hosts - sharing their hearts, home, and knowledge of the area to make us feel like family. The accommodations were beautiful, the food delicious (and bountiful), and the scenery magnificent. We're already planning our next trip to enjoy their hospitality again.

The Ores and Mine Bed and Breakfast owned by John and Donna Cornella was a special stay for us in August. The view was magnificent, the service was exceptional. We couldn't have felt more at home, just like family.
As the sun filtered into our room, we awoke to see the sun reflecting off the Twin Lakes with Mt. Elbert in the background. Our room looked out on this spectacular view, and we saw it at our feet when we awoke. Our room, the Johnny Mine, was designed to commemorate a local mine. The memorabilia and documentation in the room made history come alive. The room was spotless and the sheets smelled fresh as the mountain air.
The whole environment of the main hall was designed for the guest's enjoyment. We spent several hours looking at the clippings arranged under the dining table glass. Donna and John were gracious tour guides who provided stories about the historical documents.
Everything about our stay made us feel like family. The conversation was lively and many local guests were included to round out the discussion. We enjoyed Donna's wonderful cooking, and we invited to view her kitchen. We heard the story of the wall hanging that was a cutting from the butcher block in her father's store. Everything in the home has a special and significant meaning.
Even though our stay was short, we are already making plans to bring our son and his new wife to Ores and Mine for a longer visit. This time we plan to hike and enjoy the pristine environment. We want to share this remarkable family experience with them. Thank you, Donna and John.

AWESOME! Between Donna's amazing breakfast and the beautiful Colorado Mountains our week at Ores and Mine was wonderful! I would reccomend it anyone. Beds were comfortable, atmosphere is unique and inviting. Donna and John are not only generous and kind but they have a great wealth of peace and scenery there at Ores and Mine! Hope we can make it a yearly tradition! Loved it!

The inn keepers , John and Donna are genuinely friendly. They really care about you and want to make your stay relaxing and fun. They are knowledgeable about the surroundings and will give fantastic suggestions on hiking, eating out, etc. But the overwhelming friendliness washes over you and you leave saying to each other in the car as you drive away, " I hope we impact people we meet as positively as they impacted us". Plus you just won't find a better breakfast ANYWHERE!

We spent one night at Ores and Mines in October 2007 and it was one of the special nights of the year. Our hosts were more like old friends than hosts, the food was great, the scenery will hardly be surpassed any where in the world ( not even in Scotland ) and to top it all I won a game of table tennis and a game of pool playing against our 17 year old son.
We have promised ourselves that we shall return soon.

In July 2007, I became acquainted with this lovely establishment. Having lived in the Roaring Fork Valley [Aspen to Glenwood Springs], off & on, for about 20 years, I am accustomed to authentic, nonpareil hospitality & accommodations. This is the 1st time I have ever felt the desire to commend a B&B. Although I have stayed in many fine B&Bs around the nation ... without a doubt, Donna & John's Ores & Mine is quite simply THE BEST.

The owners are wonderful individuals who made my mother and I feel like family. We stayed for three days in mid September and had the run of the place due to it being the end of vacation season. The beautifully large and open-spaced cabin is rustic, warm, and inviting. All the rooms are beautiful and unique. The room my mother and I stayed in had the most amazing view of the mountains and lakes since two and a half walls were made up of almost nothing but windows. I've been to several places in Colorado over several years and I have to say that Twin Lakes has to be one of the most majestic and beautifully serene places I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. If possible my mother and I intend to make a trip to Twin Lakes and the Ores and Mine B&B an annual event.

Dear John and Donna,
Thank you for creating a most welcoming and relaxing atmosphere at Twin Lakes! We were expecting quaint, but we were surprised at how warm and inviting it was. The breakfast was WONDERFUL, and sitting at the table chatting with the other guests was great. It was like a little extra family in the mountains! I also thank our in-laws who stayed at your place and then gave us the gift certificate! Oh, and your son's sweet and gentle dogs were a bonus! Thank you again, Mark & Anna

A great experience! It was our first stay at the Ores & Mine, but it won't be our last! We are already making plans for our next four visits, just so we can sample each of the unique rooms, and more of Donna's great breakfasts too of course!
John and Donna do a great job of making this a "home away from home", and that's just what it feels like. From the beds and furniture, much of it handmade by John and his son Shawn, to the thousands of antiques and memorabilia, there's a story behind each piece. And Donna knows them all!
We'll be back!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Ores and Mine bed and breakfast this past summer, and it was one of the most memorable parts of my Colorado trip! Even over a very short stay the Cornella family was able to make their Bed and Breakfast feel like home. They are perhaps the most generous and genuinely loveable owners of a Bed and Breakfast that I have ever encountered, and their collection of knick knacks is museum-worthy! Next time I'm in Colorado, I will go out of my way to stay here again, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend away from home.

Donna and John' place is amazing. They are great host and hostess. We spent a few nights there and had a wonderful time. Donna's breakfasts were delicious and the portions are lumberjack size. John's knowledge of the mountains and history of the area is a real additional benefit. If we visit the area again, this will definitely be our first stop.

John and Donna are wonderful hosts! I now feel a part of their family! My parents needed a nice, quiet weekend after surviving a tornado. I found this online and it sounded just right. We got there, saw this quiet, peaceful, rustic B&B, met the hosts and decided to stay a second night. Wonderful! I would recommend this B&B highly to people that appreciate history, scenic views, and family values!! Thank you so much!

My wife and I spent a night at this wonderful B&B. We were so impressed we altered our vacation plans so we could return for another night. The "BEST" B&B we have ever been in on all of our trips. We were treated better than family and are making plans to return. John & Donna are the greatest!

We have stayed in many B&B's, and almost all the hosts were very nice. John and Donna, however, have to be our favorites. They really enjoy people, and make you feel at home instantly. Donna met us at the door with an embrace, saying "Come in, family!" They make every family feel special. They also don't try to put a wall between their lives and their clientele; you can walk into their own side of the house if you need to. We loved the people we met at breakfast, but we sure wish John and Donna had eaten with us, too! You may not think this is really so important, but just wait until you have experienced it! Aside from the hosts, the secluded lake/mountain view is out of this world. It just reminded us of Zell am See, Austria. What a peaceful, beautiful location! Donna's huge breakfasts were wonderful. Our daughter, just turning 12, couldn't get enough of the "lighter-than air"muffins. Donna accomodated early schedules, too. There is a huge family/game room with shuffleboard, pool table, ping pong, juke box, etc...., which was a lot of fun. Also, a hot tub to just sit in and gaze at those mountains. Donna's collections of all kinds keep you constantly nostalgic, or learning more about the local history. And all the work John has put into the "Ores and Mine" theme on the property! This is certainly a Blessed B&B, with the dearest people. Thank you so much, John and Donna!

We were looking for someplace different for a 3-day getaway with our 2 girls ages 14 and 18 and did we pick the right place. What a wonderful experience we had both staying at the Ores and Mine, as well as the surrounding area. John and Donna were such great hosts, their stories of past and present made for interesting conversations. Every nook and crannie has some antique or interesting desplay/decor. Like a museum. As our first B&B we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The room decor, the filling breakfasts, the morning coffee on the deck with a beautiful view, the hot tub, the game room...and more. We were treated like family and would definitely (and have already) recommend this to everyone!! Thank you John and Donna (and son Shawn) for a wonderful first experience at a B&B with the girls! You are special people!
