Whether you're planning on starting a new business, relocating an existing business or perhaps expanding/relocating your business in the Upper Arkansas Valley, there are a large number of folks here looking to help you.  Because of the area's clean air, wide open spaces... combined with a thriving and growing economic base, many entrepreneurs and small business owners are looking for ways to leave the big city and enjoy the benefits of a cleaner, happier and more productive lifestyle in this peaceful valley, while still being able to do business profitably.

Serving both Chaffee and Lake Counties for assistance in obtaining financial assistance for your business needs is the Southern Colorado Economic Development District.  The Business Lending Center is a registered trade name for the SCEDD Development Company, which is a Certified Development Company under Title V of the Small Business Investment Act of 1958.  SCEDD has helped create over 1,500 new jobs in southern Colorado and is able to assist you with SBA 504 loans and other business services.

The Upper Arkansas Valley offers many opportunities and resources to help you make it happen:

LAKE COUNTY:

CHAFFEE COUNTY
Of critical importance to any business development are tax incentives.  Chaffee County is located in an Enterprise Zone, which affords many such incentives and opportunities.  An enterprise zone is defined as an area of Colorado in which special tax incentives are offered to businesses that relocate or expand in the zone.  The purpose of the tax incentives is to create new jobs and investments here.  Tax credits are numerous, but a few include a tax credit for the rehabilitation of vacant commercial buildings; tax credits for contributions made to Enterprise Zone Administrators; research and development tax credits for R&D in a zone; state sales and use tax exemptions for manufacturing; new business facility job credits, etc., etc.

Also offering many services for those considering starting, expanding or relocating a business in the area, the Small Business Development Center (Colorado Mountain College) has trained business advisors to provide personal and group business counseling on business start-up, acquisition, market analysis and planning, cash flow management, financial analysis and loan packaging.  The Small Business Development Center of Colorado Mountain College has over 20 such centers in Colorado that link federal, state and local resources, one of which is located right here.

Chaffee County encourages business development and expansion and is eager to work with you on finding ways to make you and your business a part of our thriving community.  For more information about relocating or expanding your business in Chaffee County, contact:
